Summertime and blockbuster movies go hand-in-hand. More importantly, Disney blockbuster movies and summer go together like popcorn and butter, or salt, or ranch seasoning, you know whatever is your thang. Since I live in Minnesnowta, summertime for me is when the weather is finally officially warm, but in movie life summertime is Memorial Day and this summer Disney is kicking it up a notch with two new feature films from their most popular franchises.
PIRATES & CARS 3 are coming to theaters Summer 2017!
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES – Coming six years after the fourth PIRATES film, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES, is sure to be full of what we expect from summer films: Big, loud, filled with action and great with a tub of popcorn. The official Boilerplate from Disney states,
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” also stars Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Golshifteh Farahani as the sea-witch Shansa, David Wenham as Scarfield, Stephen Graham as Scrum, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa.
Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are directing “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The executive producers are Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, Joe Caracciolo, Jr., Terry Rossio and Brigham Taylor. The story is by Jeff Nathanson and Terry Rossio, and Jeff Nathanson wrote the screenplay. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” drops anchor in U.S. theaters on May 26, 2017.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES opens in theaters everywhere May 26th!
CARS 3 – Lightning McQueen and our favorite tow truck, Mater, are back on June 16th and ready for the races! I LOVE a good comeback story and it looks like this is exactly what we’re going to get in CARS 3, proving to kids everywhere that it’s not always about speed. “You’ll never be the racer you once were. You can’t turn back the clock, kid, but you can wind it back up again.”
After being trounced in a race by upstart newcomer Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer), everyone begins to wonder if Lighting McQueen (Owen Wilson) should retire. But Lightning isn’t ready to throw in the towel yet, and with the help of another rookie – Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) – the old dog is going to learn some new tricks and attempt a comeback in the Florida 500.
Keep up with the new generation and Lightening by following CARS 3 on social media!
