You’re having a baby and that means you need to know what in the world you should buy to be prepared. I’ve had three babies myself over the span of eight years and baby products have come and gone but there are five must haves for new breastfeeding moms but here’s the twist…These products are only for mom!
Five Must Haves for New Breastfeeding Moms – That Are Only For Mom.
Infinity Nursing Scarves – I love the ease and style of infinity nursing scarves. It’s also amazing to me what a good job they do at covering mom and baby during those precious nursing moments. I’m heavy chested and the infinity nursing scarf does a really good job at covering and managing both nursing and a new baby. Plus, scarves are always in style!
Nursing Tops – You don’t need to go out and buy an entire wardrobe of new clothes to accommodate breastfeeding. Buy some staple pieces that can go with anything.
Earth Mama Angel Baby Booby Tubes – News flash: Sometimes breastfeeding hurts, especially in the beginning of your breastfeeding journey. You will need to some form of relief during those early breastfeeding days and I love Earth Mama Angel Baby’s Booby Tubes. You put them in the freezer or in the microwave for like 20 seconds and then you can slip them into your bra when you aren’t nursing.
Breast Pads – I only needed breast pads in the beginning when my babies were newborns and my body was adjusting to their nutritional needs. During that time I had to use breast pads or else we’d have a little bit of leakage going on if you know what I mean. I only used my pads during the day because I didn’t care if I leaked at night but you can get pads for both day and nighttime. You can also get them in washable fabric so you can save a little money.
Good Reading Material – Whether it’s a juicy novel or an educational book that will help you understand your baby’s developing body, having something to read is essential when you’re breastfeeding. It allows you to focus in a quiet atmosphere and is less distracting than a TV or radio.
The other must have for a new breastfeeding mom is a good support system. Sometimes breastfeeding is as natural as breathing and sometimes it’s more challenging. I’ve experienced both with all three of my children. Between keeping track of a schedule and paying attention to how much your baby is eating, having a good support system is necessary for the new mom. Money can’t buy it but asking for help can so if you’re able, plan for this before you have your baby.
What do you think? Is there anything you would add to my list of must haves for new breastfeeding moms?
