This past week I wrote about my current boredom with mealtime and how I’ve been taking any kind of help I can get to actually put something nutritious in my children’s mouths. A few weeks ago I heard about the brand The Sneaky Chef. Sneaky Chef  creator, Missy Chase Lapine, “‘swaps out’ the ‘bad’ for the ‘good’ with the mission to get kids to ‘eat veggies tonight without a fight.'” That is definitely something I can get on board with. Now I’ve had my fair share of sampling foods that claim to taste as good as the normal stuff but still have some hidden foods in the mix. Rarely do they live up to their claims. When I had a chance to review The Sneaky Chef pasta, sauce and her No-Nut Butter I jumped at the chance.  What started out as a series of books has now expanded into an entire line of food. By disguising fruits and veggies into kids’ favorite meals, Lapine has been able to help so many families feed their children a healthy and nutritious meal without the battle of, “Eat your broccoli! Why? Because I said so!”

For my review I was given the chance to try the No-Nut Butter, Whole Grain Veggie Pastas and Pasta Sauces. I have to say, that I loved all of them. My son, Brennan, has a sensitivity to peanut butter and he just doesn’t like the taste because we’ve taught him to stay away from it. He tried the No-Nut Butter and while he didn’t really like it (because of his peanut aversion) he had no reaction so the claims are true; there really aren’t any nuts in this butter! My daughter, Kendall, is a peanut and peanut butter fiend, as I am too, and we both really like the taste of the N0-Nut Butter. She doesn’t seem to notice the difference. I do but it’s not terrible and I think that if need be we would get used to the taste and could get rid of the peanut butter in our house completely.
The pastas and sauces are also really great. The pasta is supposed to come out white when cooked and while I didn’t have that experience, my kids still ate it up without complaining. I personally love the Cheesy Red Pasta Sauce paired with the elbow macaroni (pictured below).
