Ever since the birth of my third child I have been on this quest to lose weight. It’s no surprise that it’s challenging; I mean look at me. Still I press on and keep moving forward. One of the most important things I have found though is the need to indulge every once and a while. Too many restrictions and goals that are unattainable only sets you up to fail and when your health and well being is at stake it’s better to look at the big picture. The key for me when it comes to indulging is to choose something that’s an extra special treat, isn’t horrendously bad nutrient-wise and is something that I actually want to indulge in. Recently I found Kemps’ new YO² Frozen Yogurt at Coburn’s and it intrigued me.

After swimming lessons Kendall and I picked up two YO², Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge and Salty Caramel Cookie Crunch. I was thinking I’d be nice and share with the rest of the family which is why I chose Salty Caramel Cookie Crunch; the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge was all mine though. To be honest, I was a little hesitant that it wouldn’t taste indulgent like I had wanted it to be. I mean there are a lot of no’s in its ingredients – no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, and no added growth hormones. It’s not that the absence of those naughty ingredients and additives means that the flavor won’t be there but in my experience, something is usually lacking. With Kemps’ standard of premium milk and quality ingredients every last bite was one I desperately relished.

The kids were chomping at the bit to get my YO² but I’m so well behaved when it comes to eating because I’m trying to lose weight that I really had no desire to share with them. Isn’t it enough that I shared my body with them, provided milk for their first year and have to share ever fountain Diet Coke in the universe? Can’t one thing be my own? Plus, since YO² has no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors and no artificial growth hormones, I can indulge in it without worrying about what I’m putting into my body. So I hid from them…and ate my Salty Caramel Cookie Crunch, alone in the bathroom. It was glorious!

The new Kemps’ YO² Frozen Yogurt is available at Coburn’s grocery stores in these delicious flavors Chocolate Peanut Butter,  Cold Brewed Coffee, Mudslide, Raspberry Cheesecake, Salty Caramel Cookie Crunch and Very Vanilla. You can share it with your kids if you want to but I won’t judge you if you don’t.
