Most of us go to the Minnesota State Fair for the food, the shopping and of course to visit the Miracle of Birth Barn but did you know that you could go to the Minnesota State Fair and experience adventure, a confidence booster and a little adrenaline rush? Well, that’s exactly what you’ll find at the corner of Cooper and Randall. I’m talking specifically about the Boy Scouts’ booth sponsored by the Northern Star Council.

[Tweet “#HeroesStartHere at the #MNStateFair. Visit the Boy Scouts!”]

It’s a mini-ropes course, complete with harnesses, helmets, and heights! I’m deathly afraid of heights so I thought I’d bring my son and one of our babysitters along so they could check it out. It took a bit of coaxing to get my son, whom I call “The Boy” here on the blog (although if you pay attention during our live broadcasts I often slip up and use his real name), onto the ropes course but I eventually bribed him with some Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A solves everything in life.

Boy Scouts at the Minnesota State Fair at the corner of Cooper and Randall.

From the moment he started climbing up to the ropes course The Boy was met with encouragement and affirmation from the older scouts who were manning the ropes course. “Come on my man! Keep climbing! You can do it!” the first scout yelled to him. As a parent watching my son cautiously make his way through the course, I was so encouraged to see him not only succeed but also finish with confidence. It was also so uplifting to watch the teenagers and young adults who were helping out with the course cheer my son on.

I was so surprised that this little ropes course nestled in the State Fair Grounds doesn’t cost anything. You read that correctly: It’s FREE. The Boy Scouts are constantly striving to serve their community. The mini-ropes course does just that: It gives Fair attendants a little peek into an awesome program that’s been inspiring and building young men in America for years.
