I’m going to level with ya: getting the baby weight off from this last pregnancy is feeling a bit like I’m trying to climb Mt. Everest without any training or Sherpa. It’s an uphill battle. I’m fighting time, sleep deprivation and breastfeeding. Yes, breastfeeding. I know some women lose tons of weight while they’re breastfeeding but I’ve done this three times and I am not one of the lucky ones. I develop really bad habits while I’m pregnant too. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want to so a lot of my struggle losing the weight is purely in changing bad habits. Bad, sweet, sugary habits late at night. Yes, nothing tastes better at 10:00pm on a Monday night than a piece of chocolate. Only problem is that it’s never just that one night for me. I know, I know; I should practice self-control but really, the way I practice it is to simply not have the temptation around.
That’s why I was curious about the new weight management lozenges MealEnders. From the MealEnders’ site,
MealEnders Signaling Lozenges are a revolutionary way to help beat overeating, master portion control and curb snacking by clearing cravings from the mouth and mind. MealEnders’ combines the best of food science and behavioral psychology to offer a low-calorie and stimulant-free way to fight the urge to overindulge.
MealEnders doesn’t use drugs, stimulants, herbs or toxic ingredients to get results. MealEnders has used science to figure out a way to get through the 20 minutes between finishing a meal and your brain getting the message that your stomach is full. It helps curb overeating by using a Duo-Sensory Taste System,
MealEnders’ active-taste formula rewards and resets your taste buds, distracting you from the temptation to overindulge. First the delicious Reward Layer treats you to the sweet taste of dessert – a signal we typically associate with the end of a meal. Then the Inner Core’s Active-Taste Layer releases a proprietary blend of gentle, cool tingling sensations on the tongue, which engage the trigeminal nerve, distracting your mind from the urge to continue overeating. You can feel your MealEnder go to work instantly.
So what do I think of MealEnders?
I like the idea of MealEnders and I like the taste. The Reward Layer, especially the Chocolate Mint and Mocha flavors, hit just the right spot. Then you get to the tingly inner layer and while that’s okay, the aftertaste definitely doesn’t make you want to indulge in anything afterwards. Think of it like brushing your teeth. Do you want to eat anything after you’ve brushed your teeth? I don’t. It doesn’t taste very good at all.
A few of my crunchier friends have wondered about the ingredient list: are there artificial flavors used? Yes. Is it ideal to consume some of the ingredients used in MealEnders regularly for long periods of time? No, I don’t think it is ideal, however, being obese is definitely not ideal and can be deadly if left alone. If using MealEnders aids in one’s weight loss journey I think the end justifies the means. It is not a meal replacement and shouldn’t be used as such. It’s the end of a meal, right? It gives your mouth something to do during that 20 minutes when you’ve just got to have more.
I would recommend MealEnders to friends and I have. It does satisfy my sweet tooth, it is only 15 calories and contains 2 grams of sugar, and it has helped me change the bad habits that I created during my last pregnancy. Sometimes, especially when it’s been a rough day I’ll find myself tearing the entire kitchen apart looking for a piece of chocolate or some candy, any candy, just so I can eat the stress away. Lately, I’ve been reaching for a MealEnder and you know what? I’m satisfied. That, my friend, is what MealEnders are supposed to do: Satisify that craving, emotional eating, boredom binge eating and third helping at dinner behavior. And I have to say that it does a good job of doing it!
MealEnders Signaling Lozenges come in 25-piece pouches and are available in four different flavors: Chocolate Mint, Cinnamon, Mocha, and Citrus. The price per lozenge varies depending on number of pouches purchased and purchase plan selected ($14.95 for one pouch to $80.96 for nine pouches), from approximately 36 to 60 cents. My favorite is the Chocolate Mint. You can shop for them here.
