I don’t allow myself to think too much about the ingredients in my cleaning supplies. I mean I know that while some of the chemicals that are used are probably necessary not all are even close to being necessary. I use products like 7th Generation and vinegar, lots and lots of vinegar. That’s why when Jennifer, of 4 B’s Way to Wellness, contacted me about reviewing some Shaklee products I was very intrigued.

Shaklee products were created in 1915 by Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee who created “Vitalized Minerals.” These were actually one of the first multivitamins in the world. From that he helped forge the nutritional supplement industry as well as also creating one of the first biodegradable household cleaners. I have to say that the greenness of the company is definitely peaked my interest. I cloth diaper my daughter (and I also used cloth diapers on my son when he was a baby) and the eco-friendliness of cloth diapers is definitely a benefit that I appreciate. Obviously not being wasteful is important to me.

Jennifer, my Shaklee independent distributor, is a mommy of two – a 6 year old little lady and a 4 year old gentleman – and has been married to her husband for ten years. Her experience with Shaklee products has been throughout her life as her grandparents were users so she grew up with an understanding of what the company and its products were about. Jennifer explains, “Shaklee has always been a part of my family. Growing up my grandparents used the Shaklee products. I can still hear grandma saying, ‘we need more Basic H add some Basic G, don’t forget to take your vitamins.’” Jennifer decided to spread the love of Shaklee products to others by becoming an independent distributer so you can get your vitamins too! When she’s not cleaning her house with Basic H or taking her vitamins she’s crafting, sewing, baking and designing tutu dresses. You can also follow along with her life on her Facebook page, 4 B’s Way To Wellness.

I have been using Shaklee’s home cleaning products for a little over a month and a half now. I have to tell you – I love them. I love that I can wipe the bar top in my kitchen down with the organic wipes and I don’t have to worry about the chemicals that may be left behind. The Basic H solution needs to be mixed with differing water amounts depending on the kind of cleaning you want to do. For example, if I want to make window solution I simply follow the directions, use the supplied dropper and measuring scoop and viola! Awesome, chemical free window washing solution in a Shaklee supplied spray bottle.

I also really love the Scour Off on my stove. Look at the mess some scalding water brought to my stove top. Using the Scour Off was so simple and so effective. A little bit does go a long way so it’s definitely worth your money! I also really like the Nature Bright product. It’s similar to an OxyClean powder but more gentle. We have a lot of micro suede in our house from the cushion on our stools in the kitchen to the living room furniture. The stool that my son sits on in our kitchen is filthy. He’s kind of like a jack in the box when eating a meal; up and down and up and down. Naturally the food goes up and down with him and all over the stool. I added Nature Bright to a gallon of water and applied it to the stool’s cushion. After letting it sit for a few

minutes I rinsed it with water and allowed it to dry. The results were so pleasing. As you can see, the cushion looks as good as new and you definitely can’t tell that a few hours prior to cleaning a cup of cottage cheese was mashed in.

Jennifer also sent me one of her favorite products, the Vitalizer Women’s vitamins with Shaklee’s s.m.a.r.t. System (Shaklee micronutrient advanced release technology). Keep in mind that the Shaklee company was founded on the Dr. Shaklee creating multivitamins. The vitamins are precisely what should be expected from this company. There are a lot of them but I can tell the difference in my energy from when I’m taking them to when I’m not. Actually, the one time that I wasn’t taking them for a few days is when I came down with the stomach bug that was being passed around from family to family at my church. Maybe it’s just a coincidence… My only complaint is the number of pills that you have to take. That being said, I’m certain there is a good reason for it and you probably shouldn’t have a ton of supplements all piled into one pill so having multiple ones makes sense.

Jennifer is giving away ten samples of Basic H to one FTM reader! Each sample makes two bottles of cleaner and can be used for all purpose cleaning, cleaning floors – both wood and no-wax as well as linoleum, windows, bathrooms, showers, and the list can go on and on. The way it works is that you mix a certain amount of Basic H with water depending on the kind of cleaning you’re going to do. And any question that you have I’m certain Jennifer would be happy to answer.
